Quick Shots

Welcome to “Quick Shots” — the KOB Website Designs Monthly Newsletter!

Each month you’ll receive “quick-shot tips” that help you make sure your prospects can find your website and understand your website message — a necessary process before they feel comfortable enough to think about buying from you. This is true whether you sell products or services, and whether you make your sales online, in a store, or with a proposal.

Are Your Prospects Finding You?

3 Ways to Come Up #1
If you own a small business, you probably know the odds are against your website showing up in the first few pages of a search — but did you know it’s easier to get that coveted first page position in local search results? Here are just 3 ways to help your prospects find your website in seconds:

1. Register your site. Most of the directories are free and let you include important information about the product and/or services you offer. Start with the following:

  • Google Maps/Google Local
  • Yahoo! Local
  • MSN Live Local
  • SuperPages
  • YellowPages

2. Update your information. If you already have a listing with some of the local search engines, make sure your data is up-to-date. Prospects who are trying to find what you sell may narrow their search by including a town name, a zip or an area code, or even by using “insider” key words (“Metrowest” or “Mudville” for example). Do your clients have a special term for you or your kind of product or service? Be sure to include these words on your site.

3. Upgrade to professional. When you registered your domain name, did you use your personal contact information or your company data? Some optimizing experts believe Google looks at this information when ranking websites, so a business located in Mendon with a Framingham registration address will be outranked by a Mendon business with a Mendon registration address.
